30 Years of Ritual Abuse, Mind Control and Dissociation – Valerie Sinason

30 Years of Ritual Abuse, Mind Control and Dissociation – Valerie Sinason

In 1989 a Swedish psychologist, Anders Svensson rang me for help at the Tavistock Clinic in London. He was a psychologist working with a woman with intellectual disability who reported abuse. The call was to change my life. Although I had been working with the sexual abuse of children and adults with intellectual disabilities for ten years at a time there was only the beginnings of acceptance of child abuse, ritual abuse was something I had never knowingly encountered. Three decades later, how much has changed? How different is it for the victim or survivor or supporter or professional? Is there any improvement in police and professional response to such allegations? How much credence is given to deniers and purveyors of misinformation? What are the cautions that come with this work?

Valerie Sinason is a poet, writer, retired child psychotherapist, and adult psychoanalyst. She helped to pioneer the field of disability psychotherapy and continues to serve as founding President of the Institute of Psychotherapy and Disability. She is also the founder director and now patron of the Clinic for Dissociative Studies in London and has worked extensively with severely traumatised individuals suffering from dissociative identity disorder. Previously, Dr Sinason worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic, the Portman Clinic, the Anna Freud Centre, and as an Adult psychoanalyst at St. George’s Hospital Medical School in the University of London. She is on the Board of the ISSTD. Her many books include Mental Handicap and the Human Condition: New Approaches from the Tavistock, now in its second edition, and also The Truth about Trauma and Dissociation: Everything You Didn’t Want to Know and Were Afraid to Ask.  A first novel about mind control “The Orpheus Project ” will be published by Sphinx books in October.  https://ritualabuse.us/smart/valerie-sinason/

The Modern False Memory Syndrome Movement in the United States – Neil Brick

The Modern False Memory Syndrome Movement in the United States – Neil Brick
https://ritualabuse.us/smart-conference/2022-conference/the-modern-false-memory-syndrome-movement-in-the-united-states-neil-brick

The modern FMS movement borrows most of its history, techniques and research from prior false memory movements. These erroneous theories include memory implantation into survivors’ minds by therapist, pseudoscientific theories about memory and dissociation and the harassment of survivors and therapists and their support groups. The modern FMS movement also differs from prior movements in several ways. The modern FMS movement uses religion and prayer to promote its theories. The modern FMS theories, while they may quote the old false memory movements pseudoscientists of the 1990s, they do not usually use modern scientists in the field to back their organizations’ beliefs.

Neil Brick is a survivor of ritual abuse and mind control. His work continues to educate the public about child abuse, trauma and ritual abuse crimes. His child abuse and ritual abuse newsletter S.M.A.R.T. https://ritualabuse.us has been published for over 27 years. http://neilbrick.com

A History of Ritual Abuse – Dr Randy Noblitt – SMART Conference 2022 pdf

This two-hour presentation traces the history of ritual abuse, and critically evaluates the chronology and evolution of this topic in the scholarly literature. We will review and discuss the definition of ritual abuse from the APA Dictionary of Psychology along with other definitions and conceptualizations. We will consider ritual abuse allegations in the context of the backlash movement to including the false memory syndrome and sociocognitive theories. We will review contemporary international allegations of ritual abuse, also exploring historic accounts of ritual abuse. We will examine the frequently noted psychological sequelae in ritual abuse.

If you’re living as an unaware mind controlled victim, you’re living in a vapor, seeing yourself and life through an indistinct veil of mist. You have strong emotions that can break through numbness, but you don’t know who you are or why you react the ways you do. You may also feel trapped in hurtful and unloving relationships and not able to mature into who you really are. All that can be changed if you are willing to go through with a recovery. It is hard work. It can be exhilarating. The enemy group will try to stop you. But if you want, you can find out who you are and what your life has been and can be in the future. This presentation explores some of the benefits of relinquishing slavery and learning who you are. Self-knowledge is the way out.

Wendy Hoffman had amnesia for most of her life. When she regained memory, she wrote books about her forgotten life. Wendy has published three memoirs, Enslaved Queen, White Witch in a Black Robe and in 2020, A Brain of My OwnThe Enslaved Queen has been translated and published in Germany. Her book of poetry, Forceps, also published along with a book of essays, From the Trenches, written with Alison Miller. Her most recent memoir, After Amnesia, is published on the SmartNews and Survivorship websites. and has been translated into German. What gives her life meaning is helping other surviving victims. https://ritualabuse.us/smart/wendy-hoffman/

German mother jailed for prostituting young son online, Ritual Abuse Conference August 2018

German mother jailed for prostituting young son online
A German woman and her partner have been jailed after pimping out a boy to pedophiles they found online. Investigators say it’s one of the most horrific child abuse cases they’ve ever seen.

A court in southwestern Germany on Tuesday sentenced a 48-year-old woman to 12 and a half years in prison for offering her son, now 10, up for sex on the darknet in exchange for payment. The woman’s 39-year-old partner was given a 12-year sentence followed by preventive detention.

They were the main suspects in a pedophile ring that operated out of Staufen, near the city of Freiburg.

The couple — named as Berrin T. and Christian L. — both confessed not only to pimping the victim out to a number of men, but also to carrying out abuse themselves.

Details of the case

Investigators charged Berrin T. and her boyfriend with nearly 60 acts, including forced prostitution, verbal intimidation and abuse, extreme humiliation, physical bondage and rape.
They say the couple allowed a number of foreign and local men they found on the darknet to rape and abuse the boy over a two-year period until September 2017 in exchange for thousands of euros.

Video recordings of many of the crimes were traded online, some of them showing the boy masked and tied up.
Police uncovered the pedophile ring in September 2017 after an anonymous tipoff.

Officers arrested eight suspects including Berrin T. and her partner, who has a previous child abuse conviction.
Three German men, one Swiss national and a Spanish citizen have so far been sentenced to prison terms ranging from eight to 10 years….

For Those Who Condemn Themselves for Acts Coerced Under Torture
Presenter: Ellen Lacter, Ph.D.

Synopsis: One of the most disturbing horrors described by survivors of extreme abuse is having been subjected to torture to coerce them, while being tortured, to harm or kill other victims. Many survivors describe clear memories of first being subjected this form of abuse as young children. The subsequent moral injury is devastating. This workshop will explain how specific torture methods predictably work to coerce victims to harm and kill others; the various psychological responses of victims while they are being coerced to harm others; and abuser methods to coerce victims to harm others outside of immediate torture. This workshop will assign all guilt, shame, and moral responsibility for coerced harm to the perpetrators who execute the torture and will work to help survivors stand in solidarity with other survivors of extreme abuse to do everything in their power to to overcome all self-condemnation for having been coerced through torture to harm other victims. Participants will be provided with a list of statements by the speaker and participants in the clinicians conference proclaiming the innocence of victims coerced to harm others under torture. Note: Survivors should carefully consider beforehand whether to attend this workshop as the material is extremely painful.

Ellen P. Lacter, Ph.D., is a Psychologist and Academic Coordinator of the Play Therapy Certificate Program at University of California- San Diego, Division of Extended Studies. She specializes in the treatment of dissociative disorders and complex trauma, including victims of ritualistic abuse and mind control, has published on this subject, and is an activist on behalf of victims and survivors based in her website: https://endritualabuse.org/. She has also written: A Coloring Book of Healing Images for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse, illustrated by Robin Baird Lewis and Jen Callow (2015).

He is also co-editor and contributing author of the book, Ritual Abuse in the 21st Century: Psychological, Forensic, Social and Political Considerations (Robert Reed, 2008).

Changes in Awareness of Severe Abuse and Child Abuse Crimes Over Twenty Five Years Presenter: Neil Brick
The awareness of severe abuse and child abuse crimes has changed over the last 25 years. In the early 1990s, severe abuse survivors were often believed and supported. Then a backlash started and severe abuse survivors and their supporters were harassed and attacked. The child abuse survivor movement changed and adapted. Ten years ago, research began again to help expose severe abuse crimes. More recently, first in the UK and Australia and now in the United States, a variety of child abuse, severe abuse, sexual harassment and rape cases are bringing public awareness again to the mainstream media of severe abuse crimes. This presentation will discuss the changes of the last 25 years, with an emphasis on the more recent exposures of organized child abuse crimes and social systems that have been part of the cover up of these crimes.

Neil Brick is a survivor of ritual abuse and mind control. His work continues to educate the public about child abuse, trauma and ritual abuse crimes. His child abuse and ritual abuse newsletter S.M.A.R.T. https://ritualabuse.us has been published for over 22 years. http://neilbrick.com

How to Decrease In-Fighting and Increase Respect for the Gifts of All Internal Parts
Presenter: Eileen Aveni
Understanding one’s internal system is critical to helping every internal part work together for true safety and healing. Often internal parts are at odds with each other (such as higher level alters, reporter alters, persecutor/protector alters, and other internal alters) because they are used to ‘doing their jobs” and following orders. But they are really allies in the system and can be helped to learn better and more effective ways to keep everyone in the system safe and help heal the system. The focus will be on how to communicate with parts who might seem particularly difficult to work with, learn to recognize their true gifts to the internal system, how to develop a community of mutual respect, and eventually lead the system to safety and wholeness.

Eileen Aveni, LMSW, LCSW, ACSW, BCD specializes in working with dissociative identity disorder with a focus on ritualized abuse and mind control. For almost 30 years she has worked alongside other major treatment specialists teaching and training clinicians and community groups on the major issues of these survivors and how to help and support them. She created and led an 8-year long-term therapy for DID/RA/MC survivors, and helped create and run a safe-house for RA/MC survivors for several years. She regularly presents and consults nationally and internationally. She was the 2016 Chair of the Ritual Abuse and Mind Control Special Interest Group, a division of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Survivorship, a member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, the National Center for Crisis Management, and is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.

Ethics, the Community Standard, and the Credibility of Ritual Abuse Allegations
Presenter: Randy Noblitt, PhD
Synopsis: To what extent do mental health and other helping professionals believe the stories of ritual abuse survivors? This presentation systematically reviews the empirical research on the credibility of ritual abuse allegations. After presenting the findings there will be a discussion that welcomes the opinions of the attendees regarding their own conclusions including considerations of the community standard, professional ethics, related forensic questions, and advocacy for extreme abuse survivors.

Introduction to Using Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with Clients with DID
Presenter: Cynthia Henrie, MFT
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-oriented, talking therapy developed in the 1980s by Pat Ogden, informed by the work of Ron Kurtz (1990) and the Rolf Method of Structural Integration (Rolf 1987) and enriched by the contributions from the fields of attachment, neuroscience, and dissociation. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy blends cognitive and emotional approaches, verbal dialogue, and physical interventions that directly address the implicit memories and neurobiological effects of trauma. By using bodily experience as a primary entry point in trauma therapy, rather than the events or the “story,” we attend to how the body is processing information, and its interface with emotions and cognitive meaning-making. A Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach is a useful tool in the work of treating survivors of ritual abuse, mind control and Dissociative Identity Disorder. When used mindfully, Sensorimotor Skills can aid in building a sense of safety and “belonging” within one’s own body. It can help inform both the client and clinician of different alter experiences in their own physical space, and is a useful approach that aids in resolving traumatic experiences, decreasing dissociation and grieving developmental wounding in an individual’s life experience. This is an introduction to the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach and some of the ways it can be useful in the treatment of Dissociative Disorders and survivors.

Cynthia Henrie, MFT, is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, a Feminist Therapist and specializes in the treatment of trauma and dissociation. Ms. Henrie is the founder and director of the Los Angeles Therapy Network, a network of private practice therapists whose mission is to help women through feminist empowerment, trauma survivors, persons with Dissociative Identity Disorder, LGBTQIA issues, rape/sexual assault, human trafficking/slavery and torture. Ms. Henrie graduated from Antioch University with her MA in Clinical Psychology with a Focus on Adolescence & Feminist Therapy. She is trained in the treatment of trauma and dissociation through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, is a Level II EMDR Practitioner and has completed two years of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which focuses on the treatment of trauma and developmental attachment problems. She is also Sandplay Practitioner. Ms. Henrie is the cofounder of the Los Angeles Dissociative Disorder Study Group, along with Randy Noblitt, PhD which is held at Alliant University.

Freedom from Mind Control – Neil Brick
Subliminal methods and mind control influence our lives in all areas. Social and cultural forms of mind control keep us from growing as human beings.  These forms of control make it difficult for us to grow and learn as survivors. They make it more difficult to work through  cult control programming to free our minds and our lives. Recovery techniques will be discussed that can help survivors and others break through their mind control programs and influences.

Neil Brick is a survivor of ritual abuse and mind control. His work continues to educate the public about child abuse, trauma and ritual abuse crimes. His child abuse and ritual abuse newsletter S.M.A.R.T. has been published for over 20 years. http://neilbrick.com

The witch-hunt narrative challenged, McMartin Preschool trial, Child abuse/ritual abuse podcasts

March 12, 2014 Comments Off on The witch-hunt narrative challenged, McMartin Preschool trial, Child abuse/ritual abuse podcasts

Oxford University Press to Publish Book
by Professor Ross Cheit
February 5, 2014

Longtime Taubman professor Ross Cheit will discuss his new book and the contributions of his many undergraduate research assistants….

What is your book about? The witch-hunt narrative claims that there was a series of child sexual abuse cases in the 1980s and 1990s that were hoaxes and that children are highly suggestible when questioned about possible sexual abuse. The idea that children are highly suggestible is still with us, and the people who believe that use these cases as the evidence….

In the book you reference your own experience with sexual abuse at a camp for the San Francisco Boys’ Chorus. How do you avoid bias? The way I’ve designed my research, it forces me to confront the best arguments that support the witch-hunt narrative.  The McMartin Preschool case….I knew that case was going to be the most flawed. After spending weeks reviewing the original transcript of the case, I concluded that there were plenty of reasons for jurors to conclude that the original defendant, Ray Buckey, was guilty. The rest of the case was deeply flawed, and I lay that out in my book. The book is documented to the max. I don’t make any claims that aren’t documented….

What are the policy implications of the book? What’s most worrisome to me is that the witch-hunt narrative unfairly impugns children. The ongoing challenge in this field is, if you ask children a series of open-ended questions about the alleged abuse and don’t get anywhere, then what do you do? I think there are people who are too worried about being criticized for asking leading questions or interviewing a child a second time.

What that leads to are abused kids who don’t disclose. I’ve seen almost no concern or acknowledgement of that issue in the psychology literature, but a lot of people are worried about false convictions. There is also a claim that there are economic motives to find abuse and that federal programs create the incentive to find abuse. I think this is completely wrong-headed. I worry that there are political forces that want to weaken the Child Abuse Prevention and Training Act, get rid of mandatory reporting, and undermine the credibility of front-line professionals, from pediatricians to forensic interviewers, who serve and protect children….

What do Rosanne Barr, Herschel Walker, J.Hill and 2,186 others have in common?, After Sexual Abuse Case, a Hasidic Accuser Is Shunned, Then Indicted

What do Rosanne Barr, Herschel Walker, J.Hill and 2,186 others have in common?  Child Safety  June 19, 2013 Judy Byington

Emmy, People’s Choice and Golden Globes Award Winner Rosanne Barr claims that her multiple personalities resulted from childhood parental abuse; Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker unveiled his multiplicity from child abuse in “Breaking Free: My Life with Dissociative Identity Disorder”; the 2007 Extreme Abuse Survey documents DID sufferers of extreme abuse like Barr and Walker from different countries http://extreme-abuse-survey.net/  , while the biography, “Twenty-Two Faces: Inside the Extraordinary Life of Jenny Hill and Her Twenty-Two Multiple Personalities” by Judy Byington (Tate Publishing) is digging up the 1980s DID “Satanic Panic.” http://youtu.be/ 8SECeoTGRgE and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F626Lsrdwg4  ….

This Satanic Ritual Abuse controversy was buried in the 1990s, though evidently didn’t completely disappear. Six year-old Jenny Hill plus DID respondents to the EAS survey, claimed they were ritually abused into multiplicity by a satanic cult. http://extreme-abuse-survey.net/  and http://youtu.be/ 8SECeoTGRgE    Hill claims to be the only known survivor-intended-victim of a human sacrificial ceremony that took place on June 21 1965 in Garden Grove, California. Author of her biography, Judy Byington, MSW, LCSW, ret, states, “SRA is the extreme abuse of a child done to deliberately create multiple personalities or DID for the purpose of having life-long control over the victim.”

SRA appears to be a global issue. Recent media coverage in the Jimmy Savile Satanic Sex Abuse scandal has uncovered hundreds of stories about the ritualized abuse of children in the UK. Author Laurie Matthew in her 2002 “Where Angels Fear” identifies locations in the Dundee area of Scotland where survivors say that as children, they were ritually abused in groups….

Toos Nijenhuis is a psychotherapist and ritual abuse survivor who explains her torture and experience with human sacrifice in Holland on this UTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PyrPEu7nk1Q  ….

Hundreds of ritual abuse survivors are speaking out by publishing their biographies and the annual SMART conference in Hartford Conn. (August 9,10,11 2013) draws ritual abuse survivors and therapists across the nation. http://ritualabuse.us

The EAS also showed that the Roman Catholic Priest scandal was not limited to sexual abuse, revealing 139 victims who claimed being ritually abused by Catholic Priests. In 2004 a case found the court room. On the 1980 Easter weekend in Toledo, Ohio the Reverend Gerald Robinson was convicted of killing Sister Margaret Ann Pahl in a Catholic Black Mass ceremony….

After Sexual Abuse Case, a Hasidic Accuser Is Shunned, Then Indicted
By MICHAEL POWELL June 17, 2013
Sam Kellner is a man twice shunned and living in a deepening shadow.

Five years ago, this gray-bearded and excitable man with a black velvet yarmulke spoke out about the sexual abuse of his 16-year-old son by a prominent Hasidic cantor. As Mr. Kellner helped investigators with the Brooklyn district attorney’s office search for other young Orthodox victims of this man, the Orthodox establishment grew ever angrier at him. The rabbi at his Hasidic synagogue in Borough Park, Brooklyn, denounced Mr. Kellner as a traitor and forbade parishioners to talk with him on the street. Yeshivas barred his sons. His businesses dried up — he pawned his silverware to meet his bills. And he still fears that he will never find a marriage match for his son.

“I felt murdered and abandoned,” Mr. Kellner said. “I’m ruined.”

This, however, was a prologue to a worse situation. In April 2011, after the district attorney’s office gained a conviction against that cantor, Baruch Lebovits, the prosecutors turned around and obtained an indictment of Mr. Kellner. They said, based on a secret tape and the grand jury testimony of a prominent Satmar supporter of Mr. Lebovits, that he had tried to extort hundreds of thousands of dollars from Mr. Lebovits.

District Attorney Charles J. Hynes has shown great deference to the politically powerful Hasidic community over the years, and it has rewarded him with large margins on election days. Even his heralded crackdown on Hasidic sexual abuse was a velvet glove wrapped around a velvet fist, as he took the unusual step of refusing to publicize the names of defendants — even the convicted.

Mr. Hynes extended no such courtesy to Mr. Kellner. “We allege that Kellner sent emissaries to Lebovits’s family telling them that he controlled the witnesses against Baruch Lebovits,” the district attorney said at a 2011 news conference, “and that in return for $400,000, he would ensure that the witnesses would not testify.” ….

Mr. Lebovits’s lawyers used his indictment and other technicalities to persuade a state appeals court to overturn his conviction….

Two weeks ago, I talked with the three-member rabbinical court — known as a Beit Din — in Monsey. These rabbis rarely grant interviews, but spoke now of their moral obligation. Their community for too long has resisted coming to grips with sexual abuse.

They view Mr. Kellner as a brave pioneer. He did not seek out witnesses at random; rather their court, with the help of local leaders in Williamsburg, gave him the name of a victim.

“Lebovits is known to have a long history” of sexual abuse, Rabbi Chaim Flohr said. But Mr. Lebovits has powerful supporters, and people are fearful, he added.

Mr. Lebovits’s lawyers maintain that he is innocent of all charges….

Sandusky, victims plan to speak at sentencing
By MARK SCOLFORO | Associated Press 10/8/12

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — Jerry Sandusky and at least some of his victims plan to address the judge at his sentencing, a proceeding that may last less than two hours, lawyers said after a closed-door meeting to iron out logistics ahead of the Tuesday hearing. Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola said “it’s as certain as certain can be” that the former Penn State assistant football coach will speak to Judge John Cleland and assert his innocence before he is sentenced on 45 counts of child sexual abuse….

Given the number of charges, the serious nature of his crimes and his age, the 68-year-old Sandusky faces the likelihood of a sentence that will send him to state prison for the rest of his life. Sandusky was convicted in June of abusing 10 boys over 15 years, including some attacks inside Penn State athletic facilities….

Lead prosecutor Joe McGettigan said as many as a half-dozen victims are expected to be heard. The eight victims who testified against Sandusky at trial described abuse that ranged from grooming and fondling to oral and anal sex. Sandusky did not take the stand but gave interviews shortly after his arrest in which he declared he was not guilty….

The 2012 EMDRIA Conference “EMDR & Attachment: Healing Developmental Trauma” October 4th – 7th in Washington, D.C., at the Crystal Gateway Marriott.

Session 434 – Treating Dissociation, Ritual Abuse and Mind Control from an Attachment Perspective  Carolyn Settle, MSW, LCSW; Soozi Bolte, LPC, LISAC

Using EMDR as an integrative therapeutic approach from an attachment and developmental trauma lens, this presentation will give practical strategies for treating clients with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) symptoms who have experienced Ritual Abuse and Mind Control (RA/MC).  Infant disorganized attachment is an important precursor to adult dissociation and perhaps even more of a predictor of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) than severe trauma alone (van der Kolk). RA/MC programming will be explained so the clinician understands the layers of complexity in treating these dissociative symptoms and ego states. http://www.emdriaconference.com/
