Third MS-13 member linked to 2017 death of Houston girl sentenced to four decades in federal prison
Rebecca Hennes Sep. 29, 2020
A third member of the transnational MS-13 gang — convicted recently by an Ohio federal court — has been linked to the 2017 murder of a 15-year-old Houston girl whose death was widely speculated to be part of a Satanic ritual.
Police found the slain body of Genesis Cornejo-Alvarado on the side of a road in the 8900 block of Sharpcrest in Chinatown. She was shot in the head and chest….
It was widely reported in 2017 that authorities believed a satanic ritual was a factor in Cornejo-Alvarado’s death. While searching the apartment of Alvarez-Flores and Hernandez-Rivera, police found an altar to Santa Muerte, the Mexican folk saint of death that has been prominently tied to the criminal syndicate, according to federal court records.
A police investigator, while grilling Alvarez-Flores — whose nickname was “Diabolico” — on the death, fixated on what the altar meant, according to a Houston Police Department report shared in federal documents.
But investigators also stated in court records following the 2017 arrests that Cornejo-Alvarado had been dating a man with the rival 18th Street gang— also a transnational syndicate. Both gangs were founded in Los Angeles….
In translated interviews with Alvarez-Flores and Hernandez-Rivera nearly two weeks after the teen girl’s death, investigators asked them in detail about the Santa Muerte altar.
An investigator said “he heard the real reason why Genesis … was killed” and that it was to offer her soul to the folk deity.
Alvarez-Flores denied that Cornejo-Alvarado was sacrificed or that he prayed to the devil. He said he looked to Santa Muerte for a never-ending source of marijuana and for protection “against the law.” Alvarez-Flores also denied killing the teen girl…. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/houston/article/Third-MS-13-member-linked-to-2017-death-of-15607129.php
Young woman in satanic killing identified
Victim identified as missing Jersey Village teen John D. Harden , Houston Chronicle March 6, 2017 Authorities confirmed Monday the identity of a young girl who was allegedly killed as part of a satanic ritual and dumped on a side road in mid-February as that of a missing Jersey Village teen.
For weeks the girl’s identity remained a mystery until a witness to the murder recently came forward, leading to the arrest of two men, according to police. At the time police released only the victim’s first name — Genesis….

Justice Department wants to swap U.S. for Trump as defendant
Carroll says he wasn’t acting officially in calling her a liar The New York advice columnist who claims President Donald Trump raped her in a department store dressing room two decades ago asked a judge to deny a Justice Department request to substitute the U.S. government as the defendant in her defamation lawsuit. E. Jean Carroll, who went public with her claims last year and sued Trump after he called her a liar, said in a court filing Monday that the U.S. effort misapplies a federal law intended to protect government workers from lawsuits related to their jobs. The law doesn’t apply because the allegedly defamatory statements weren’t part of Trump’s official duties, she said…. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-06/trump-rape-accuser-says-defamation-isn-t-part-of-president-s-job
Organised Sexual Abuse
Michael Salter Nov 2012
Organised Sexual Abuse offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary investigation of this phenomenon. Since the early 1980s, social workers and mental health professionals around the globe have encountered clients reporting sexual abuse by organized groups or networks. These allegations have been amongst the most controversial in debates over child sexual abuse, raising many unanswered questions. Are reports of organized abuse factual or the product of moral panic and false memories? If these reports are true, what is the appropriate response? The fields of child protection and psychotherapy have been polarised over the issue. And, although cases of organized abuse continue to be uncovered, a reasoned and evidence-based analysis of the subject is long overdue.
Examining the existing evidence, and supplementing it with further qualitative research, in this book Michael Salter addresses: the relationship between sexual abuse and organized abuse; questions over the veracity of testimony; the gap between the policing response to sexual abuse and the realities of child sexual exploitation; the contexts in which sexually abusive groups develop and operate; the role of religion and ritual in subcultures of multi-perpetrator sexual abuse; as well as the experience of adults and children with histories of organized abuse in the criminal justice system and health system. Organized Sexual Abuse thus provides a definitive analysis that will be of immense value to those with professional and academic interests in this area.

Judith Herman: “In order to escape accountability for his crimes, the perpetrator does everything in his power to promote forgetting. If secrecy fails, the perpetrator attacks the credibility of his victim. If he cannot silence her absolutely, he tries to make sure no one listens”.
Flaws in satanic panic theory
In my book (Nelson, 2016), I describe numerous flaws in satanic panic theory which had to be either unnoticed or ignored.
• There WAS no widespread panic – most professionals and lay people remained unaware of these disclosures and behaviours. Only a small, often isolated minority of police, psychiatrists and counsellors, journalists, child protection professionals and foster parents had encountered them, and most of their own colleagues were sceptical of their belief.
• Nothing could be further from the truth than the claim that professionals and random feminists pursued satanic abuse theory with passion or zeal.
That anyone would actually want to find it, or would be pleased and zealous in pursuit, was bitterly laughable. Even for people experienced in working with CSA, it was the worst, most disorienting and traumatising knowledge in the world, challenging all your beliefs and your assumptions about human beings. Ritual abuse cases also brought many professionals considerable fears for their personal safety.
• The scapegoats and folk devils in classic moral panic theory (Cohen, 2002) should have been the accused adults. Instead they have been the professionals who took children into care, and/or publicly professed a belief that ritual abuse existed.
• Another essential feature of ‘moral panics’ in classic sociological theory is that these are promoted, carried and encouraged by the media. But most media, after a brief flurry of salacious interest, became not supportive but hostile in their coverage of ritual abuse. Most media have supported accused parents and adults with standing in their communities.
• The verbal disclosures, actions and behaviours of children and adults abused in ritual settings were so baffling, so esoteric and so unlike content previously heard that it would be incredibly difficult or impossible generate these words, actions and behaviour through pressured interviewing techniques by, for instance social workers. It was in fact the foster parents of children taken into care in both Nottingham (England) and Orkney (Scotland), not professionals, who produced by far the most evidence of children’s bizarre statements, drawings and actions. These were ordinary people who were baffled and disturbed by what they witnessed and heard from the children placed in their care.
• People, including journalists, lost their critical faculties. For instance, on Orkney claims were spread that one ‘born-again’ Christian basic grade social worker, CF, influenced Orkney and Strathclyde social work departments and police into jointly carrying out the dawn raids on four families with children. This was implied too in BBC Scotland TV’s ludicrous ‘faction’ drama Flowers of the Forest (BBC2, 1996). Both ignored the simple fact that a basic grade social worker had no power, influence or status to achieve this far-reaching joint action by police and social workers, which was authorised from top level!

The Witch-Hunt Narrative: Politics, Psychology, and the Sexual Abuse of Children by Ross E. Cheit
The sexual abuse of children in the United States became national news in February 1984 with allegations about the McMartin Preschool in Manhattan Beach, California. The case, once considered the largest “mass molestation” case in history, ended without a single conviction. Since then, it has become the conventional wisdom that the McMartin case, and hundreds of other cases in that era, were nothing more than witch-hunts. These cases are now seen as compelling evidence that children are “highly suggestible” and that society was in the grips of “hysteria.”
Based on a comprehensive examination of primary sources, The Witch-Hunt Narrative challenges the conventional wisdom about these cases. Ross E. Cheit uses trial transcripts and related court documents to demonstrate that many of the cases at the core of the witch-hunt narrative involved compelling evidence of abuse. He focuses on three major cases while also surveying dozens more, including some that involved injustice to the defendants. He finds that in many cases the conventional wisdom is significantly overdrawn.
Cheit’s years of research also revealed a history of minimizing and denying abuse, and a surprisingly lenient response to many child molesters. Those trends continue into the present, where there are pockets of; overreaction to sexual abuse in a sea of under-reaction. Cheit concludes with a consideration of recent events, including the Catholic Church cases, the Sandusky case at Penn State, and issues concerning sex offender, registration and civil commitment. He argues that progress in social responses to sexual abuse notwithstanding, there are still unjustified attacks on the credibility of children and on child-abuse ‘ professions, from forensic interviewers to pediatric child-abuse specialists.
This powerful book shows how a narrative based on empirically thin evidence became a theory with real social force, and how that theory stood at odds with the grim reality of sexual abuse. The Witch-Hunt Narrative is a magisterial account of the social dynamics that led to the denial of widespread human tragedy.

The organisation has said the name change will make it easier to explain the support it offers….
“R.A.N.S. has also become the lead national charity in Scotland and indeed the UK providing information and support to survivors of ritual and organised abuse while also carrying out international research. Additionally, we work to increase awareness of ritual abuse and provide consultancy to policy makers, statutory bodies and other third sector agencies.” According to R.A.N.S, ritual abuse is abuse that follows any kind of pattern. It can occur with or without a belief pattern. It often involves multiple perpetrators and multiple survivors. The impact of ritual abuse is often devastating to a person. Survivors of ritual abuse often have complex mental health problems along with additional and unique barriers to accessing support.

What is Ritual Abuse?
Ritual or ritualised abuse is abuse which follows any kind of pattern. It sometimes follows a belief pattern but not always. It often involves multiple perpetrators but not always. And it often involves multiple victims/survivors.
The impact of Ritual Abuse is most often devastating to a person. Survivors of RA often have complex mental health problems along with additional and unique barriers to accessing support. https://www.rans.org.uk/ Defining Ritual Abuse Ritual abuse can be defined as organised sexual, physical, and psychological abuse, which can be systematic and sustained over a long period of time. It involves the use of rituals, with or without a belief system. It usually involves more than one person as abusers. Ritual abuse usually starts in early childhood and involves using patterns of learning and development to sustain the abuse and silence the abused.
Most sexual abuse of children is ritualised. Abusers use repetition, routine and ritual to force children into the patterns of behaviour they require, to instil fear and ensure silence, thus protecting themselves. Sexual abuse of a child is seldom a random act: it usually involves the abusers in thorough planning and preparation beforehand.
Some abusers organise themselves in groups to abuse children and adults in a more formally ritualised way. Men and women in these groups can be abusers with both sexes involved in all aspects of the abuse. Some groups use complex rituals to terrify, silence and convince victims of the tremendous power of the abusers.
Some abusers organise themselves round a religion or faith and the teaching and training of the children within this faith, often takes the form of severe and sustained torture and abuse.

The Satanic Sex Cult Leader Who Loved Animal Sacrifices, Orgies, and Murder
“The Devil You Know,” a new docuseries premiering Aug. 27 on Viceland, explores the horrifying life of Pazuzu Algarad, a disturbed Satanist who ran a house of horrors.
Nick Schager 08.22.19
Pazuzu Algarad (real name: John Lawson) was a self-proclaimed Satanist who reveled in extremeness. With a moniker borrowed from The Exorcist, a face covered in tattoos and his teeth sharpened to fine points, Pazuzu spent his days and nights in his Clemmons, North Carolina, home cutting himself and his buddies, drinking the blood of birds, doing copious drugs, performing ritual sacrifices of rabbits, staging nude orgies, and letting people do whatever they pleased to his abode—including popping a squat in the corner of a room, and then leaving the mess to be eaten by one of his many dogs….
Before it begins trying to derive Meaningful Lessons from its material, The Devil You Know proves a riveting case study of a unique madman. Residing with his mother in Clemmons (a suburb of Winston-Salem), Pazuzu lived and breathed his depraved ethos, which was influenced by a combination of horror movies, ‘80s black metal, and Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan. In copious old photographs, Pazuzu appears to be just as scary as his reputation suggested—minus the split tongue that rumors said he gave himself. He routinely bragged about killing people, and in 2010, he and cohort Nicholas Rizzi were charged in connection with the shooting death of an African-American man, Joseph Emmrick Chandler, near the Yadkin River….
A second, more thorough examination of the property followed, and led to the discovery of two bodies: Tommy Dean Welch and Josh Wetzler, the latter of whom had been missing, much to the concern of former girlfriend Stacey Carter (with whom he’d had a young son), for five years.
Pazuzu had killed and buried these men with the help of two fiancées, Amber Burch and Krystal Matlock, and he had dispatched them in the presence of his mother Cynthia, with whom he lived. Those facts, coupled with Pazuzu’s devil worship, attracted national media attention, and The Devil You Know benefits from the participation of many key figures, as well as considerable archival news reports and police footage of the inside of Pazuzu’s house, which lives up to stomach-churning expectations….

Autopsies show victims at Clemmons house were shot in the head
Michael Hewlett/Winston-Salem Journal Apr 29, 2015
….Dr. Jerri McLemore, a Forsyth County medical examiner who works at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, did the autopsies of both men. McLemore finished the reports earlier this month. McLemore declared both deaths the result of homicide.
Authorities have released few details about the killings, including whether they have found the gun or guns used to kill Welch and Wetzler. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has not said what connection the two men may have had to Algarad and Burch.
According to court documents, Algarad regularly performed “Satanistic rituals” and animal sacrifices at the house.
Ex-girlfriend: Victim in alleged satanic killing was good father
Winston-Salem Journal Oct 24, 2014
….According to arrest warrants, Pazuzu Algarad, 35, is accused of killing Wetzler in July 2009, with Amber Burch, 24, helping him bury the body.
Then, in October 2009, warrants say that, Burch killed another man, Tommy Dean Welch and Algarad helped her bury the body.
Krystal Matlock, 28, is charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. She is accused of helping bury Wetzler.
‘Satanic serial killer’ used ‘fingers of seven murder victims to make devil-symbol’
The victims, whose bodies were all found between 2002 and 2004, were each found with two fingers amputated, it is reported
By Ana Lacasa 15 FEB 2019
A suspected Satanic serial killer has been arrested for allegedly murdering seven people and cutting hexagrams into their skin.
Tomas Maldonado Cera, 48, is accused of mutilating his victims by removing their fingers and using them to create a devil-worshipping symbol on their bodies.
Nicknamed “El Satanico” (the Satanist), Maldonado was arrested in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Columbia, after the body of Brenda Parajo Bruno was found in a woodland area.
Bruno was reportedly raped and killed after taking her disabled daughter to a rehabilitation centre where Maldonado is said to have been working as a driver.
Maldonado, who is married with four children, was made the main suspect and reports state he had had a sexual relationship with Bruno, which her family denies.
The suspect was arrested and held in preventative prison at El Bosque prison in Barranquilla after being charged with the murder.
Authorities then quickly linked him to the deaths of four men and another two women.
All the bodies of the victims had similar features, reports said.
Each body reportedly had two fingers amputated and had middle and ring fingers placed so they created the “Voor” symbol, which according to local authorities is considered as a sign of saying “I love Satan, I love Lucifer” and is often used in a ritual supposedly to call demons.
The bodies, all found between 2002 and 2004, also featured hexagrams cut into their skin with a knife, it is reported….
Authorities are investigating the Satanic links of two more murders, a woman who was the girlfriend of the suspect until she disappeared, and a 14 year old boy…..

Teen sentenced to life in satanic killing
By Brian Rogers December 11, 2014 Houston
Corriann Cervantes’ beaming smile and bright eyes lit up a Harris County courtroom Thursday, even though it was just a posterboard-sized photograph that her family brought to show Jose E. Reyes he had not beaten them.
The 15-year-old’s aunt, who had just seen Reyes sentenced to life in prison for capital murder in a killing prosecutors said was part of a satanic ritual, made sure the 18-year-old saw the photo on an easel in the center of the courtroom as she berated him from the witness stand….
Reyes, who prosecutors said had bragged that he brutally killed Cervantes with a friend so they could sell their souls to the devil, showed little reaction during four days of emotional testimony and grisly photos, and was emotionless during the verdict….
Among other inflammatory evidence, the jury saw graphic photos of heinous injuries including an upside down cross carved on Cervantes’ stomach….
The last piece of evidence in the trial were letters from jail in which Reyes said the Devil was in the room directing him to act during the slaying.
“He was standing there, watching me and Victor,” the teen wrote in a letter read to jurors Thursday. “It’s all good. It’s what the Devil asked for.”….

N.C. Church Members Charged With Beating Gay Man to Banish ‘Demons’
Five members of the Word of Faith Fellowship face kidnapping and assault charges.
BY Trudy Ring December 11 2014
Five members of an evangelical Christian church in western North Carolina have been charged with kidnapping and assault in connection with an attack on a young gay man, which he says was meant to rid him of “homosexual demons.”
Matthew Fenner, now 21, says that in January 2013, “he was threatened with confinement for two days, slapped, strangled and verbally assaulted” by members of the Word of Faith Fellowship in Spindale, reports North Carolina’s LGBT outlet QNotes.
In an affidavit he submitted to local law enforcement, Fenner said church members confronted him about being gay, telling him it was disgusting. They then began a ritual called “deliverance,” which, he wrote, “meant extremely rough pushing, loud screaming, and other violent measures intended to ‘break me free of the homosexual demons.’”….
The Word of Faith Fellowship has previously faced other accusations of abuse and cult-like practices. In one such instance, in 2012 another man said church members held him against his will for weeks because he is gay, and the U.S. Department of Justice initiated a hate-crime investigation, but the man then recanted his story. Now, though, he says he was manipulated into recanting and has left the church, according to the newspaper. Fenner has also left the congregation, although his mother and brother remain in the church and testified on its behalf before the grand jury….

Roderick Mackay’s earliest memories are of explosions and urine.
He lived at an orphanage in London, sent there from the squalorous Edinburgh housing project where he was born. His father, fresh off a divorce from his mom, sent him there as he was heading off to fight in World War II….
Sixteen of those small children were loaded on an old banana freighter called the SS Bayano that wasn’t any safer than the shelter. As they were shipped across the Atlantic to Canada, the convoy with them lost an oil tanker and nearly an American destroyer to German torpedoes….
Suddenly his entire family was an ocean away.
He and the others were bussed from Quebec to a group home/school in rural Victoria. When he reached his new home, the Nov. 10, 1941 Victoria Daily Times headline read “‘Orphans of Blitz’ Arrive at Fairbridge School After Hazardous Journey From Britain.”
Life at Fairbridge School proved more than enough to make Oliver Twist blush, and inspired a memoir that recently topped 240 pages. Ritual humiliations, head trauma and lashings all figured in.
Decades later, then-prime minister Gordon Brown invited Mackay and company to England to personally apologize….
All told some 130,000 children were forced from the U.K. to Canada, Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and Australia.
“Many child migrants were sent overseas by specialist agencies such as the Fairbridge Society, established for the purpose of migrating young children to populate the empire with ‘good, white British stock,’” reports the Child Migrants Trust, which eventually sprang up to help reunite families split by the moves….
GCHQ to help tackle ‘dark net’ child abuse images 11 December 2014
Intelligence experts and organised crime specialists will join forces to tackle child abuse images on the “dark net”, David Cameron has said.
The prime minister said a joint GCHQ and National Crime Agency unit would hunt online paedophiles with the same “effort” used to track terrorists.
Speaking at a London summit, he said online child exploitation existed on an “almost industrial scale” worldwide.
He also unveiled a law to stop adults sending children “sexual” messages….
Mr Cameron said the new unit was part of a drive to remove millions of “sickening and depraved” images from the internet.
The term “dark net” refers to parts of the internet that are hidden and can be hard to access without special software, and Downing Street said the new unit would be able to analyse huge volumes of images….
Mr Cameron said children were being “abused to order” by some international gangs….
Responding to Mr Cameron’s comments, shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper said there were “very serious gaps” in the government’s plans because “thousands of cases of abuse are not being followed up by the police”.
“We know the National Crime Agency has details of over 20,000 suspected of accessing images of child abuse under Operation Notarise, and yet they have only investigated a tiny proportion of these – and arrested fewer than 1,000,” she said….

Polish Archbishop Jozef Michalik Sex Abuse Comments Prompt Outrage: ‘Child Seeking Love’ Because Of Divorced Parents
WARSAW, Oct 8 (Reuters) – Poland’s most senior Catholic cleric said children with divorced parents were sometimes more vulnerable to sexual abuse by priests, remarks that prompted a storm of outrage though the church later said it was a slip of the tongue.
The comments from Archbishop Jozef Michalik entrenched the view among some younger Poles that the church is out of touch with modern society and failing to properly confront allegations of sexual abuse by priests.
In comments shown on Tuesday by broadcaster TVN24, Michalik said child sexual abuse by priests was unacceptable, but the debate about it needed to be broadened out beyond the immediate physical or psychological wounds inflicted on the victims.
“And one has to say … how many wounds are inflicted when parents divorce? We often hear that this inappropriate attitude (paedophilia), or abuse, manifests itself when a child is seeking love,” said the clergyman, who is head of the Roman Catholic episcopate in Poland….

Randfontein teen confesses satanic killing of friend
South Africa Friday 4 October 2013
JOHANNESBURG – A 15-year-old Johannesburg girl has confessed to stabbing her friend to death as part of a Satanic ritual.
The teenager has told the Palm Ridge High Court she killed her schoolmate in order to move up the ranks of a Satanic cult in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg.
The accused says Keamogetswe Sefularo posed a threat to the group, because she could identify its members and knew about the cult’s practices.
She claims these rituals include visiting graveyards and members cutting themselves and sucking each other’s blood….

The NSPCC is still receiving calls from victims of Jimmy Savile a year on from the TV documentary which exposed the serial paedophile’s reign of terror.
Police say there the former BBC broadcaster abused at least 1,300 people over 54 years – but the children’s charity said more were still coming forward.
The charity revealed that publicity over the scandal has led to an overall surge in the number of child victims of sexual abuse and rape contacting the NSPCC….

Theologo ‘strangled’ twice before satanic killing
South Africa Tuesday 1 October 2013
JOHANNESBURG – On the night of 21 October 2011, Kirsty Theologo was strangled and fell to the ground. She managed to get up and was strangled once again – until she “passed out.”
A South Gauteng High Court, sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Ekurhuleni, heard testimony on Tuesday from Robin Harwood, who is one of the four people on trial for her murder.
Courtney Daniels, Robin Harwood, Harvey Isha and Lindon Wagner have already pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder, and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Two others, Lester Moody and Jeremy King are already serving sentences for their part in the killing. They both entered into a plea agreement with the state and were sentenced to 17 years behind bars, five of which were suspended.
Theologo died following an apparent satanic ritual in which she and her then 14-year-old friend were doused with petrol and set alight.
In his testimony, Harwood told the court that he was controlled by an evil spirit during the incident.
Judge Geraldine Borchers asked Harwood why he believed that and he replied, “because we were experimenting about the dark world and evil.”….

Court hears of dagga, vodka in satanic killing
May 21 2013 By SAPA
The effect of using dagga and vodka in succession was graphically explained to a Johannesburg court on Tuesday by murder-accused Harvey Isha….
Isha, 24, is on trial with Harwood, Lindon Wagner, and Courtney Daniels for the murder of Kirsty Theologo, attempted murder of her friend, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. They have all pleaded not guilty.
Two other accused, Jeremy King and Lester Moody, confessed to the crime and were each sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment, five of them suspended.
Theologo, 18, and her friend, who was 14 at the time, were tied up, doused with petrol, and set alight on a hill in Linmeyer, south of Johannesburg, on October 21, 2011. Theologo died in hospital but her friend survived.
Isha testified that he had no idea about the plan to “sacrifice” Theologo and her friend in an apparent satanic ritual on the hill that day….
FBI — Human Trafficking
It’s sad but true: here in this country, people are being bought, sold, and smuggled like modern-day slaves.
They are trapped in lives of misery—often beaten, starved, and forced to work as prostitutes or to take grueling jobs as migrant, domestic, restaurant, or factory workers with little or no pay. We’re working hard to stop human trafficking—not only because of the personal and psychological toll it takes on society, but also because it facilitates the illegal movement of immigrants across borders and provides a ready source of income for organized crime groups and even terrorists.
Sex Trafficking in the Metro By Meghan Matthews May. 22, 2013
Omaha, NE – Imagine being trapped in a nightmare. “It felt like weeks, I was exhausted I was terrified.”
That’s how Monica describes two days of hell; trapped and forced into prostitution.
“Every time you sell yourself, you sell your soul and you know you’re not the same person that you used to be.”
Monica isn’t her real name, we are protecting her identity. She tells me five days before her 20th birthday an old friend lured her into a car, with a pimp.
“They looked over my body and then pretty much immediately posted a post on Craigslist. By the time I got to the hotel, they actually had it up and running.”
They took her to a Council Bluffs motel and forced her to have sex with clients.
“He took my phone, he took my wallet. He took everything.” For two days, someone else controlled her life.
You might not believe it. You might not see it, but the signs of sex trafficking are out there. Kids, teens even adults are stolen off the streets and roped into prostitution rings every day….
Child abuse victims step forward in wake of Jimmy Savile scandal
STV 23 May 2013
More adults are reporting sexual abuse from their childhood in the wake of high-profile scandals such as the Jimmy Savile case.
Scottish Government figures show 384 sexual assaults against children under 13 were recorded between 2011 and 2012, a 246% increase on the previous year.
Crimes recorded against 13 to 15-year-olds have gone up by 266% over the same period.
One survivor told STV News how she waited 30 years to report a relative who abused her for seven years until she was 13. Her abuser was later jailed….

Liz Mackean and Meirion Jones, who worked on Newsnight’s spiked Jimmy Savile investigation, have won scoop of the year at the London Press Club awards, sharing the prize with two others involved in exposing the late Jim’ll Fix It presenter’s sexual abuse of children.
In an unusual move, the London Press Club awards judges gave the 2013 scoop of the year award jointly to Mackean, Jones, Miles Goslett – who eventually broke the Savile abuse story in the Oldie magazine – and Mark Williams-Thomas, the former policeman and child protection expert behind the ITV Exposure documentary that finally propelled it into a full-blown national scandal last autumn….
Greater Manchester police deny failing child sexual exploitation victims
Police force rejects criticism that ‘sexual abusers are walking the streets’ and that officers do not have skills to win trust of victims
Mark Smith guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 5 March 2013
Greater Manchester police have angrily dismissed reports they are failing alleged victims of child sexual exploitation in Rochdale by ruling them out of the inquiry set up after nine men were convicted last May of being part of a grooming ring that preyed on teenage girls.
An investigation by the Sunday Times (paywall) reported that 34 potential victims or witnesses were deemed to be “outside the scope of the inquiry” and had instead been referred to social services. The paper cited a source who claimed that officers had not yet even approached the vast majority of these potential complainants.
But the Guardian understands that local NHS crisis intervention teams (CITs) passed these 34 names to Greater Manchester police (GMP) only in the last week, and that they “remain very much part of the investigation”. These potential victims or witnesses are in addition to the 42 people approached by police in the first wave of Operation Doublet, though there may be some duplication of names in the file the CITs passed to police.
Of the initial 42 alleged victims approached by GMP, only six girls have been given “core” status and continue to work with the police toward potential prosecutions, prompting criticisms of the way the force is handling the complex and delicate nature of the inquiry….

D.C. Circuit Weighs Child Pornography Restitution Case
The thorny question of how to calculate restitution to victims of child pornography came back before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit last week, with the U.S. Department of Justice defending a proposed formula.
Friday’s arguments marked the second time the court considered the case of Michael Monzel. Monzel pleaded guilty to one count each of distribution and possession of child pornography. A trial judge ordered Monzel to pay $5,000 to a victim known by the pseudonym “Amy,” but on remand from the D.C. Circuit reduced the award to zero, finding the government didn’t produce evidence on how much of Amy’s losses he caused.
The government appealed, arguing U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler was wrong to reduce the award and that its proposed formula – dividing a victim’s total losses by the number of individuals found criminally responsible and then adjusting based on certain factors – represented a fair solution. Monzel’s lawyer, Federal Public Defender A.J. Kramer, said the formula was arbitrary and that Kessler was right to reduce the award after the government presented no evidence linking his client to specific losses.

Satanic murder accused tells of beating May 17 2013 by Meggan Saville Johannesburg
The case against four people accused of killing teenager Kirsty Theologo in an alleged satanic ritual was postponed by the High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Judge Geraldine Borchers postponed the matter until Monday, when one of the accused, Harvey Isha, would testify. Kirsty Theologo, 18, and her friend, who was 14-years-old at the time, were tied up, doused with petrol, and set alight on a hill in Linmeyer, south of Johannesburg, on October 21, 2011. Theologo died in hospital, but her friend survived.
Jeremy King and Lester Moody admitted to the crime and were both sentenced to 17 years in jail, five of which were suspended.
The other four accused – Isha, Robin Harwood, Lindon Wagner, and Courtney Daniels – have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. On Friday, Lydia van Niekerk, for Wagner, cross-examined State witness King about the killing. Witness not warned of satanic killing May 17 2013 by SAPA
Johannesburg – A youth present when a teenager was set alight in an apparent satanic ritual was not warned he would witness a killing, a State witness said on Friday. Jeremy King, 20, told the High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court the youth was only told King and his friends would perform a “soul-selling” ritual.
Kirsty Theologo, 18, and her friend, who was 14-years-old at the time, were tied up, doused with petrol, and set alight on a hill in Linmeyer, south of Johannesburg, on October 21, 2011. Theologo died in hospital, but her friend survived.

Child rapist’s jail term appeal fails Saturday, May 18, 2013 By Court staff
A child rapist who posed as a holy man to subject three victims to “satanic” sex abuse has failed to convince judges his 18-year prison sentence is too long.
The man claimed he had black magic powers and told the children, who were as young as 10, that if they did not submit to “religious massage”, evil spirits would remain in their bodies and their mothers would die….
The man was jailed at Leicester Crown Court after he was convicted in November 2011 of three counts of rape, one of another serious sexual offence and four counts of sexual activity with a child.
Three senior judges at London’s Court of Appeal this week rejected his challenge against his sentence, saying he had committed the crimes “under the cloak of religion” and deserved the sentence imposed. The man had denied all the offences but was found guilty by a jury, with the sentencing judge saying he had “deliberately frightened the children” so he could carry out “satanic abuse”….
Loving parents. An utterly respectable home. So how did Rachel, 11, fall prey to the Oxford sex gang?
Victim started not turning up for family suppers at 7.30pm
Lured into life of sex slavery by Oxford gang with gifts of cocaine, cannabis, cigarettes and vodka
By age of 13, she had 700 men’s names on Facebook
Mother: ‘We did everything to try to keep her indoors, locking all windows and doors at night’ By Sue Reid 18 May 2013
….As her mother, Georgina, says today: ‘Rachel loved school and was the teacher’s pet. She was excited about going to the big secondary with her friends. She is the youngest of our big family and we doted on her. We called her our baby.’
Yet five months after the holiday picture, Rachel’s childhood was abruptly ended. Instead of returning home straight after school, she started staying out in the park with the same group of girls who used to come to her home for tea.
She would arrive late for the 7.30pm family supper. And — after a time — she often did not come home at night and went missing for days on end.
Now her horrified mother knows the reason for her daughter’s worrying behaviour. She was being seduced by a predatory gang of paedophiles, who lured her into a life of sex slavery by giving her gifts of cocaine, cannabis, cigarettes and vodka.
By the age of 13, Rachel had more than 700 men’s names on her Facebook page. Hundreds of others were sending text messages and even naked photos of themselves to her pink mobile phone.
She changed her online identity to a Muslim name. And when she did come home, she often had savage bruises and bites all over her face and body….
Rachel was the youngest of six girls who bravely gave evidence at an Old Bailey trial that ended this week as seven men from Oxford were convicted for brutal sex assaults on them over eight years.
The men, five of Pakistani origin and two North African brothers, were convicted of 23 rapes, 15 charges of rape conspiracy and nine of child prostitution, as well as other offences including trafficking the girls for sexual exploitation and having sex with a child.
Scandalously, police and social workers knew in 2005 that the Oxford girls were being preyed on by the gang, but did little to stop the nightmare unfolding before they finally started to investigate in 2010.
As with similar outrages in Rochdale, Derby, Rotherham and Telford in Shropshire, where street-grooming gangs have been convicted recently….
Georgina contacted Oxford social services hundreds of times to ask for help with her out-of-control daughter and says they did not return her calls.
She stormed down to their offices in Oxford and says she was ignored.
She phoned the police, who to their credit often went out searching for Rachel, but officers (and social services) failed to tell Georgina that a gang of men, predominantly British-born Pakistanis, was operating a sex-grooming ring in the city and any white girl was at risk from them….
Today, she is in the care of Oxford social services and living in another part of the country. It is a unit where she is secure so the gang cannot contact her — nor she them.
Aged 16, she is not allowed a mobile phone or computer access. She can speak to her family only when a phone call is made for her by a warden at the home.
Suffering from post-traumatic stress because of her five-year ordeal, she is studying for her GCSEs and is visited by her mother regularly….
Oxford police said this week that 60 other girls may have been abused by 50 men from similar gangs in Oxford….

Satanic killing – victim was ‘braaivleis’
South Africa Friday 26 April 2013
Teenager Kirsty Theologo was referred to as “braaivleis” when her murder in an apparent satanic ritual was being planned, a Johannesburg court heard on Friday.
Theologo was present when this happened, testified Lester Moody, who has confessed to his role in the killing.
He told the High Court, sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, that the code name was used at a meeting on the Thursday before the fatal ritual on October 21, 2011.
The meeting was held to plan the details of her murder.
Moody, who has entered into a plea bargain with the State, was testifying against Lindon Wagner, Robin Harwood, Harvey Isha and Courtney Daniels.
He has been sentenced to 17 years in jail for his role in the murder, five years of which were suspended.
The four accused have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder and assault to cause grievous bodily harm….
BBC to investigate Stuart Hall abuse as part of Jimmy Savile review
Lord Patten says there will be no separate inquiry into how disgraced broadcaster Stuart Hall gained access to victims guardian.co.uk, Sunday 5 May 2013
Stuart Hall, above, admitted indecently assaulting 13 girls during the 1960s, 70s and 80s. The BBC may be liable to pay compensation to the victims, says Lord Patten.
There will not be a second inquiry into how broadcaster Stuart Hall was able to abuse his victims while working at the BBC, the chairman of the corporation’s trust has said.
Lord Patten said instead a review by Dame Janet Smith into the Jimmy Savile scandal would also investigate how Hall – who has admitted indecently assaulting 13 girls during the 1960s, 70s and 80s – gained access to his victims.
Speaking on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, Patten said the BBC was also likely to face compensation claims from Hall’s victims….
After Stuart Hall and Savile, the more victims’ voices are heard, the better
Stuart Hall’s admission of sexual offences has brought the abuse scandal that started with Jimmy Savile back into the headlines. It’s painful, but important, that victims are now speaking out
Suzanne Moore The Guardian, Friday 3 May 2013
….This is why today, when I hear the voices of Hall’s victims, I would argue that naming the suspects (which enabled some women to come forward) remains powerful. Some of these women have been silent for a very long time. When Susan Harrison, whom Hall plied with alcohol then assaulted, told her father after returning home in tears, he said: “He is famous and we are nobodies. Nobody is going to believe you if you tell.” Unless victims waive their right to anonymity, the victims do indeed remain nobodies. Harrison felt guilty, worrying that Hall may go on to abuse others, which he did. She later suffered from depression.
Kim Wright, another of Hall’s victims, was watching the news about Savile when she decided to make a formal complaint. She is a policewoman who has worked in child protection. “I’ve always felt what Stuart Hall did to me is not something he’d do once, that it was part of some kind of modus operandi.” Wright felt that if the police could tell other victims they were not the only one, they would have the courage to come forward. And she was right. “When he picked on me,” she said, “he picked on the wrong person.”….

The disgraced broadcaster Stuart Hall is facing accusations that he recently transferred ownership of his home to his wife in a deliberate attempt to avoid paying compensation to his victims.
Land Registry documents show that Hall’s detached property in Wilmslow, Cheshire – said to be worth £1.2m – was placed under sole proprietorship of Hazel Hall on 22 February of this year. The transfer occurred less than a fortnight after Hall denied indecently assaulting 13 young girls, calling allegations against him “pernicious, callous, cruel and above all spurious”. He has since admitted all counts.
At least six of Hall’s victims are set to sue as a result of the “enormous suffering” inflicted on them by the former It’s a Knockout presenter. The BBC is also said to be facing huge compensation claims for sexual abuse that may have occurred on the corporation’s premises….
Land Registry documents show that until February, Hall and his wife had jointly owned the home since 1981. Hall told the Daily Telegraph he had transferred the deeds because he has “an extreme heart condition and at any moment I’m likely to pop off”….
Stuart Hall admits to sexual abuse of girls
Veteran BBC broadcaster described as ‘opportunistic predator’ after admitting to assault of 13 girls between 1968 and 1986
Nigel Bunyan guardian.co.uk, Thursday 2 May 2013
Stuart Hall, the veteran BBC broadcaster, has been described as an “opportunistic predator” by the Crown Prosecution Service after he admitted to a string of historic sex offences against girls.
Three months after dismissing the allegations as “pernicious, callous, cruel and, above all, spurious”, the 83-year-old was forced to admit that his accusers had been telling the truth.
Hall, of Wilmslow, Cheshire, first made the admissions at a brief hearing at Preston crown court on 16 April. But they could not be reported because he was facing trial over an allegation that he raped a 22-year-old woman in 1976. On Thursday it emerged that the rape case had been left to lie on the file, along with three other allegations of indecent assault….
Earlier, Peter Wright QC, prosecuting, said Hall’s 13 victims had been aged between nine and 17. They were abused between 1968 and 1986….
In a statement issued later on his behalf, Brabners Chaffe Street said: “Stuart Hall confirms that he has pleaded guilty to 14 charges of indecent assault. Mr Hall deeply and sincerely regrets his actions. He wishes to issue an unreserved apology to the individuals concerned. He now accepts his behaviour and actions were completely wrong and he is very remorseful….
Stuart Hall told 5 Live: ‘Any 10-year-old can instruct you in oral or anal sex’

John Plunkett The Guardian, Thursday 2 May 2013
When Stuart Hall appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live eight years ago telling listeners: “Your average 10-year-old can instruct you in oral or anal sex,” the corporation defended his comments as “satirical banter”.
The veteran broadcaster’s admission, revealed on Thursday, of a string of historic sex offences against girls aged between nine and 17 casts his comments in a different, horrific light. Hall made the comments in a 2005 edition of 5 Live’s Saturday morning panel show, Fighting Talk.
Living up to his reputation for outspoken views and colourful language, Hall told the programme that Zimbabwean cricketers should “black up” and branded Zimbabwe’s president, Robert Mugabe, a “witch doctor”….
