STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The NCAA agreed Friday to restore 112 football wins it had stripped from Penn State — all but one of which belonged to Joe Paterno — in the Jerry Sandusky child-molestation scandal and to reinstate the venerated late coach as the winningest in major college football history.
The agreement, swiftly approved by the boards of the NCAA and the university after intermittent talks heated up this week, lifts the last of the sanctions imposed in 2012 and wipes away the black marks that had tainted one of the nation’s most celebrated college athletics programs.
After more than two years of criticism that the NCAA had overstepped its authority, officials with college sports’ governing body did not back down. Instead, they said they were focused on ending litigation that had held up distribution of the university’s $60 million fine to fund child abuse-prevention programs.
Before the deal, the NCAA had agreed last year to eliminate some of the sanctions, including reinstating Penn State’s full complement of scholarships and letting the team participate in post-season play.
Friday’s agreement threw out the rest of the sanctions, including eliminating a five-year probation period and scholarship and transfer rules, and restoring the wins that had been wiped out. It also bowed to Pennsylvania officials’ desire to see the $60 million fine spent in Pennsylvania, not spread to abuse-prevention programs around the nation….
Freeh’s report accused Paterno and other top Penn State officials of burying child sex-abuse allegations against Sandusky to avoid bad publicity. The report portrayed the Hall of Fame coach as more deeply involved in the scandal than previously thought.
The alleged cover-up by Paterno, then-university President Graham Spanier and two other Penn State administrators allowed Sandusky to prey on other boys for years, it said.
Paterno was never charged with a crime, although Spanier and the two other former administrators continue to fight charges in court….
Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts and is now serving a 30- to 60-year prison sentence.
Joe Paterno wins again, but where do Jerry Sandusky’s victims go to get their innocence back?
By Kevin Scarbinsky January 16, 2015
Now that that’s settled, now that the NCAA has caved for the final time on its attempt to do the right thing in the wake of the worst scandal in major college football history, now that the late Joe Paterno has had his precious vacated victories restored, a question:
Where do Jerry Sandusky’s victims go to get their innocence back?
That is what the whole sordid Penn State mess was about, wasn’t it? A long-time defensive coordinator, while he was doing that job and afterward, roamed the town, the campus and the football building, preying on children and sexually abusing them….

Does reality TV have a pedophile problem?
By Hollie McKay October 27, 2014
LOS ANGELES – TLC canceled ”Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” on Friday after photos surfaced of star Mama June hanging out with a convicted child molester.
In August, “Sons of Guns” star Will Hayden was arrested on multiple rape charges against minors. His daughter, another star on the show, then told “Dr. Phil” that she too had been touched inappropriately. Discovery, which owns TLC, swiftly canceled that show, too.
In 2013, reality TV producer Donald Luciano – who worked on some episodes of OWN’s reality program “Beverly’s Full House” about the life of former supermodel Beverly Johnson – pled guilty to possession of images of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct….
Mama June’s history of dating sex offenders: Father of Honey Boo Boo’s sister Chubbs served time for sexually exploiting a child over the internet
Child molester Mark McDaniel isn’t the first sex offender that June Shannon has dated
The father of Jessica ‘Chubbs’ Shannon served over two years in prison for the sexual exploitation of a child over the internet in 2005
Michael Anthony Ford, 37, remains on the sex offender registry and is currently behind bars on a separate charge of child abandonment
McDaniel has reportedly got back together with Mama June and has been photographed with her and her daughter, nine-year-old Honey Boo Boo
By David Mccormack and Lydia Warren for MailOnline 28 October 2014
….According to prison records, Ford is currently behind bars on a separate child abandonment charge.
The fathers of Shannon’s other children also have criminal records but rather than being sex-related their crimes included arson and burglary.
Alana’s father, David Michael ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson, was sentenced to five years in 1998 for robbing a series of campsites and setting fire to another.
Anna’s father, David Dunn, did time in 1995 for stealing a handgun and again in 1998 for stealing a carton of cigarettes. The father of Laury is said to be unknown, even by Mama June.
A police report has revealed the sickening sexual assaults Mama June’s eldest daughter allegedly suffered at the hands of her boyfriend when she was just eight.
The March 2003 report, seen by RadarOnline, reveals how Anna ‘Chickadee’ Shannon told authorities in Spalding County, Georgia that she had done the ‘S word’ with Mark McDaniel.
She also told police that her mother’s boyfriend touched her inappropriately, made her touch him inappropriately and forced her to perform a sex act on him. When she told him to stop, he would not.
Anna, who appeared on ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ with her mother and siblings, has since revealed that when she first told her mother about the abuse, Mama June refused to believe her.
McDaniel was sentenced to 10 years behind bars after pleading guilty to child molestation. He left prison in March and has reportedly been seeing Mama June again.
The abuse came to light after Anna told her elementary school teacher that her stepfather had assaulted her. She was able to describe the assaults in graphic detail, the report notes.
The molestation was carried out multiple times between April and October 2002, according to the report.
It took Anna months to speak out about the abuse because McDaniel had threatened to kill her if she told, RadarOnline reported.
‘Anna stated that Mark told her not to tell because he would not like her anymore,’ Beach continued. ‘Anna advised she got tired of holding it in and had to tell.’
….Mama June has denied that she is dating the child molester.
‘The statement of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue,’ she said in a video posted at the weekend. ‘I would not ever, ever, ever, ever put my kids in danger.’….
Mama June’s Molester Former Boyfriend Threatened To Kill Daughter Anna If She Spoke Up About Sex Abuse

Former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June Shannon’s child molester then-boyfriend sexually abused her daughter, Anna Cardwell, for at least six months when she was just 8 years old. But the terrified little girl didn’t come forward until nearly a year later. And now, RadarOnline.com can reveal why. According to court papers obtained by Radar, Mark McDaniel, 53, took extreme, sick measures to prevent his innocent victim from telling anyone about his disgusting behavior in 2002.
In the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office incident report obtained exclusively by Radar, police officer Bauch noted that a very brave Cardwell— now a 20-year-old married mom of Kaitlyn, 2— first told her teacher about the abuse on March 28, 2003…..

Anna Marie Cardwell is speaking out about being molested as a child, years before she and her family became the stars of TLC’s hit reality show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
In an interview with PEOPLE, June Shannon’s oldest daughter, now 20, says registered sex offender Mark McDaniel “would try and touch me and all that stuff” when she was 8 years old and he was dating her mother….
In a recent Facebook post, Shannon denied she and McDaniel (who was released from a Georgia prison in March after serving a 10-year sentence for aggravated child molestation) are currently romantically involved….

I do not respond to personal attacks; smearing the messenger is a tactic that speaks for itself…. who dismisses virtually all medical evidence of sexual abuse: “It is now known that anal and genital inflammations and lacerations in young children, once believed to be clear signs of sexual abuse, also occur frequently in kids who were not abused.” There is no scientific basis for the claim that genital lacerations occur frequently in non-abused children. Quite the contrary. According to a recent article in Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology:
Hepenstall-Heger et al. reported lacerations in prepubertal girls in both penile and digital penetration, but none were found in girls experiencing saddle injuries. Myhre et al. found no lacerations in non-abused 5- and 6-year-old girls. (Price, p. 134).
…..Lacerations in children’s genitals are rare, not frequent, and controlled studies conclude that they are not found in non-abused children. Lacerations are “wounds made by tearing” (Heger, Emans, and Muram, p. 242). Acknowledging that fact, of course, requires one to acknowledge that there was solid medical evidence in the Keller case.

Penn St. board votes down new look at 2012 report
By MARK SCOLFORO Associated Press
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Penn State’s trustees on Tuesday voted against taking a fresh look at the 2012 university-commissioned report into how the Jerry Sandusky molestation scandal was handled, disappointing many who have criticized the report as deeply flawed and unfairly damaging to the institution.
The board voted 17-9 against a resolution backed by alumni-elected trustees that would have set up a group to comb through the report and seek answers from Louis Freeh, the former FBI director who led the team that produced it.
Many alumni have been critical of the board’s handling of the aftermath of the scandal and particularly how the school treated late football coach Joe Paterno, prompting a successful trustee election effort.
“There is no downside, none at all, if we review the report,” said Bob Jubelirer, an alumni trustee – and former state senator – who joined the board this year. “This is controversial – it has damaged this university.”
The debate demonstrated the deep divide among board members about what to do regarding the report, which concluded Paterno and top administrators concealed key facts about Sandusky’s abuse to avoid bad publicity….
Three administrators have been charged with a criminal cover-up of complaints about Sandusky and are awaiting trial in county court in Harrisburg. Former president Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley have all vigorously denied the allegations and have sought to have their cases thrown out….
Sandusky, the school’s retired defensive coach, was convicted in 2012 of sexual abuse of 10 boys and is serving a lengthy state prison sentence.
11 held as child abuse gang smashed
By Press Association 28 October 2014
A suspected child sex abuse gang has been smashed by police officers as part of a crackdown on exploitation of young girls.
Eleven people have been arrested under Operation Heliodor in the south Manchester area, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
The suspected abusers, a ged between 19 and 38, have been arrested for alleged offences including sexual activity with a child, attempted indecent assault, inciting child prostitution, abduction and rape.
The arrests come at a time of increased scrutiny over the way police forces, including Greater Manchester, deal with child sexual exploitation allegations in the wake of damning reports and claims that widespread abuse of children was effectively ignored by officers for years.
Operation Heliodor is part of Project Phoenix, a multi-agency campaign tackling child sexual exploitation in the Greater Manchester area.
The arrests came after interventions from a multi-agency team into sexual exploitation of girls and its links to organised crime in and around the Longsight area of Manchester, as well as other areas….
Philippine shelter for street kids hit with allegations of abuse
Homeless children say they prefer sleeping rough to beatings at the ‘rescue’ center
Many homeless children choose to stay on the streets of Manila rather than in government shelters, where rights groups say detainees are subject to abuse and maltreatment
Joe Torres and Eloisa Lopez, Manila Philippines October 28, 2014
….According to the Philippines’ Department of Social Welfare and Development, there were at least 246,000 street children in the country in 2012, including more than 11,000 in Manila alone. Most of them are boys who were abandoned by their families, or who choose to stay in the streets even if they have relatives.
But despite the difficult life, it’s one that boys like Jason prefer to the government alternative: detention in controversial centers for homeless people that rights groups claim are rife with abuse and maltreatment.
For years now, authorities have been rounding up “families at risk,” many of them children, in attempts to cleanse urban centers, particularly the capital, of perceived eyesores.
In Manila, the children who are “rescued” during nightly patrols end up in the Reception and Action Center (RAC), a facility that is supposed to provide temporary shelter for the homeless.
“We will run to avoid the night patrol,” said Jason….
In March, the Asian Legal Resource Centre asked the UN Human Rights Council during its 25th session in Geneva to take immediate action to address allegations of torture and violence against children in the Philippines….

Matt Sandusky, silent no more, works to stop abuse
By Elizabeth Simpson The Virginian-Pilot September 8, 2014
The turning point, for Matthew Sandusky, was the 2012 courtroom testimony of Victim No. 4.
The witness’s description of sexual abuse mirrored Matthew’s own experience so vividly it moved him to disclose to police that he, too, had been molested by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky – who was also his adoptive father.
At the time, Matthew wished he also could have been identified by a number instead of a name, to shield his wife and children.
“Our world turned upside down,” Matthew, 35, said in a phone interview from State College, Pa., last week. “We lost family. We lost friends. It felt like everyone was against us and blaming us for everything. We were really alone.”
His father was convicted, and this year, Matthew has used that famous last name to become a national activist to help people disclose and recover from sexual abuse….
“I want to empower people to get help if they feel alone,” he said.
It’s been a brutal journey for him, one that led him to legally change his last name, and those of his wife and children, from Sandusky to one he doesn’t publicize.
He now reserves the Sandusky name that once opened doors and secured him a tuition break at Penn State for another reason: to raise awareness of child sexual abuse.
Matthew was first listed as a witness to defend his adopted father, but during the trial, the testimony of Victim No. 4 was so similar to his own that he went to the police and disclosed the abuse, hoping it would not be made public.
An audio recording was leaked to the media, but he never had to take the stand in the 2012 trial. Jerry Sandusky was convicted of 45 charges of child sex abuse and given a sentence of 30 to 60 years in prison.
Matthew met him when he was 7 years old through The Second Mile charity camp. The abuse began the next year and continued into his teens, he said….
In the phone interview, Matthew said he was confused about the abuse as a child because it was not physically painful, and it seemed like a fair trade-off for the financial and emotional stability of the Sandusky household, something he didn’t have from his biological family.
In the end, though, he realized there was nothing fair, or emotionally stable, about it…. http://hamptonroads.com/2014/09/matt-sandusky-silent-no-more-works-stop-abuse
NCAA Restores Penn State’s Postseason Eligibility, Football Scholarships 9/08/2014
There is likely nothing more horrifying or despicable in college football’s history than the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. The legal fallout was immense, with Sandusky locked away for what most assume will be the rest of his life and another three Penn State officials are still standing trial for their alleged roles in covering up Sandusky’s actions. Many also called on the NCAA to drop the hammer on the football program that facilitated decades of child abuse, and the governing body did not disappoint: Penn State was forced to pay $60 million over a five-year period, plus the football team was hit with a four-year bowl ban and a loss of 20 football scholarships.
And yet on Monday, the NCAA announced that its executive committee has restored Penn State’s postseason eligibility, effective immediately, and next season the team will return to a full complement of 85 scholarships, which accelerates an easing of the sanctions already made last year. These changes are based on recommendations made in a report from George Mitchell, the school’s external athletic integrity monitor. Mitchell, who is responsible for monitoring Penn State’s efforts to enact recommendations made in the Freeh Report, cited the school’s progress since the sanctions were handed down two years ago, including the formation of a comprehensive compliance program.
It’s curious that the NCAA would agree to so radically mitigate sanctions stemming from what is the single most horrible scandal in its history, especially considering that the NCAA rarely diminishes punishments for even far less serious violations. For one example, Big Ten rival Ohio State was hit with NCAA sanctions in 2011 after it was discovered that some players traded memorabilia for money and tattoos; that punishment was never modified at a later date, and the team is still playing with a reduced number of scholarships…. http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/2014/09/08/ncaa-restores-penn-states-postseason-eligibility-football-scholarships/

Irish Catholic leader apologises for child abuse as he steps down
Agence France-Presse September 8, 2014
Cardinal Sean Brady, who was criticised over his handling of abuse scandals, stepped down as leader of the Irish Catholic Church on Monday with an emotional plea for forgiveness.
“I too need to say sorry and to ask forgiveness and I do so again today,” Brady told the faithful at a mass in Armagh in Northern Ireland.
Brady, who played a key role in the peace process after being appointed in 1996, had tendered his resignation to the Vatican last month after turning 75, the normal retirement age for senior clergy.
His years as leader of the Irish church coincided with a series of damning revelations of widespread clerical sex abuse.
Brady himself became directly embroiled in accusations that he mishandled child abuse allegations during an investigation into notorious paedophile Father Brendan Smyth.
In 1975, as a young priest and canon lawyer investigating the actions of Smyth, Brady did not report the allegations of abuse to the police. Smyth continued to abuse children until his arrest and conviction in the 1990s.
A television documentary in 2012 revealed Brady did not act when given the names of five other children abused by Smyth…. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/afp/140908/irish-catholic-leader-apologises-child-abuse-he-steps-down
Dublin Rape Crisis Centre releases ‘shocking’ report
By Neil Fetherston
Monday, September 8, 2014
THE Dublin Rape Crisis Centre’s (DRCC) Annual Report has revealed the highest number of calls to their 24-hour helpline since 2009.
A total of 12,192 contacts were answered by the DRCC’s National 24-Hour Helpline, including 9,614 “genuine” calls, an increase of five per cent compared with 2012 figures.
A total of 43 per cent of these calls relate to adult rape, an increase of three per cent compared to 2012.
The report also indicates that 231 victims of rape and sexual assault were accompanied by trained DRCC volunteers at the Rotunda Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in 2013….
Other findings include the fact that the majority of callers (78 per cent) were female and 22 per cent were men; 43 per cent of calls related to adult rape; nine per cent of calls related to adult sexual assault; 53 per cent of calls related to adult sexual violence, including rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and trafficking and 47 per cent of calls related to childhood sexual abuse, including ritual abuse and suspected abuse…. http://www.dublinpeople.com/article.php?id=4026&l=100

Report: Politics had no role in Sandusky probe
By MARK SCOLFORO Associated Press June 23, 2014
HARRISBURG — A report released Monday detailing the handling of the Jerry Sandusky child molestation case faults police and prosecutors for long delays in bringing charges but found no evidence that politics affected the investigation.
The report, commissioned by Democratic Attorney General Kathleen Kane and written by former federal prosecutor Geoff Moulton, blamed a three-year time lapse in filing charges on communication problems, an expungement of a 1998 complaint about the former Penn State coach and a failure to take certain investigative steps early on.
“The facts show an inexcusable lack of urgency in charging and stopping a serial sexual predator,” said Kane, who had vowed to conduct a review of the investigation while running for office. “The report documents that more investigative work took place in just one month in 2011 than in all of either 2009 or 2010.”
Moulton said his review, including internal emails by state prosecutors, “revealed no direct evidence that electoral politics influenced any important decision made in the Sandusky investigation.”….

Jesse Friedman, Who Pleaded Guilty To Child Abuse In 1988, Fights For Exoneration June 24, 2014
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) – A man portrayed in an Oscar-nominated documentary about a notorious 1988 sex abuse case has launched another attempt to clear his name.
Jesse Friedman and his attorney filed a motion Tuesday in Nassau County Court. They want a judge to hold a hearing to review evidence in the case.
Friedman and his father, Arnold Friedman, pleaded guilty in 1988 to abusing 13 children during a computer class that the elder Friedman taught at their Great Neck home. But Jesse Friedman has maintained that he was coerced into confessing….
Last year, Rice determined that Friedman was properly convicted.
“By any impartial analysis, the re-investigation process prompted by Jesse Friedman, his advocates and the 2nd Circuit, has only increased confidence in the integrity of Jesse Friedman’s guilty plea and adjudication as a sex offender,” Rice’s report stated.
About a half-dozen prosecutors, supplemented by an independent review team that included noted defense attorney Barry Scheck, investigated claims that police used flawed interview techniques, employed hypnotism to elicit victims’ memories and took advantage of a moral panic that was sweeping the country in the late 1980s.
It also examined whether Friedman had caved to pressure from a county court judge and prosecutors to plead guilty, and methodically addressed that and all the other criticisms.
The report said during the first two weeks of the investigation, at least 35 children were interviewed by a team of 12 detectives working in two-person teams. No single detective dominated the investigation and different teams obtained incriminating statements from different victims, the report said.
The review team also said it found no credible evidence that hypnosis was used by investigators on any child….
Rice: No Reason To Overturn Friedman Sex Abuse Conviction
Friedman Claims There’s ‘Nothing But Lies In The Report’ June 24, 2013
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) – There is no reason to overturn the conviction of a man in a notorious 1980s sex abuse scandal, New York prosecutors announced Monday after a three-year review….
But Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice released a 168-page report Monday that concluded there was strong reason to investigate and prosecute both Friedman and his father, Arnold, when the scandal erupted in 1987. The new inquiry also concluded that the two abused young boys taking computer classes in the basement of their Great Neck home….
Friedman, speaking at a news conference on Monday, said he’s disappointed in the DA’s report but added he’ll continue his battle to clear his name….
“By any impartial analysis, the re-investigation process prompted by Jesse Friedman, his advocates and the 2nd Circuit, has only increased confidence in the integrity of Jesse Friedman’s guilty plea and adjudication as a sex offender,” the report stated….
The panel also noted that after his guilty plea, Friedman went on “The Geraldo Rivera Show” against his attorney’s advice and re-affirmed his guilt and discussed the abuse he and his father inflicted on the children.
The panel also re-interviewed parents of some of the victims and found none “have any reason today to disbelieve that their sons were victims of the Friedmans.”
The parents described their children having emotional problems, including bed wetting, defecating in their clothing, sleeplessness, nightmares, stuttering, a decline in school performance, separation anxiety and an overwhelming sense of fear….

(Reuters) – A long-awaited probe into the investigation of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, who was convicted in 2012 of sexually abusing children, will be released early next week, Pennsylvania authorities said on Friday.
Sandusky, the once-legendary assistant football coach, was convicted in 2012 of abusing 10 boys from 1994 to 2009, some in the Penn State showers, and is serving 30 to 60 years in prison. In 2013, the school agreed to pay $59.7 million to the victims.

Dark net ‘used by tens of thousands of paedophiles’
By Angus Crawford BBC News 19 June 2014
Tens of thousands of paedophiles are using the so-called dark net to trade images of sexual abuse, an investigation by BBC News indicates.
One site receives as many as 500 page views per second, its founder says.
Figures from another site suggest Brits are heavily involved in producing and distributing illegal obscene images.
Britain’s National Crime Agency warned in its 2014 threat assessment that abusers were turning to anonymous sites and encryption technology.
The dark net is the term used to refer to parts of the internet that are hidden and can be hard to access without special software.
One of the most popular products used to access such areas is called the TorBrowser….
Paedophile use of dark net increases for child abuse images
By Barclay Ballard 6/20/14
Tens of thousands of paedophiles are using the dark net to circulate images of sexual abuse, according to a report by the BBC.
The National Crime Agency said that abusers were increasingly turning to encryption software to maintain anonymity. The dark net is a hidden part of the Internet which can only be accessed by special software, one of the most popular of which is the TorBrowser.
This enables people to use Tor, an “onion-routing” system, which bounces encrypted data through several randomly selected servers on the network, making a PC’s net address untraceable….
During the BBC investigation, the broadcaster contacted an active paedophile who ran one of the illegal chat rooms, until it closed in May 2014.
“We had over 40,000 user accounts on the site. We used to get sometimes 500 page views per second. My own collection is 12 gigabytes”, he said….

The internet trade in images that show child sex abuse is now “an epidemic”, according to the head of the global initiative to combat the problem.
Police officers from around the world serve on the Virtual Global Taskforce.

In 2002 the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reviewed and confirmed 45,055 examples of obscene images of children found online (some of these were duplicates)
In 2013 the figure had grown to 23,881,197
As of May 2014, the centre had reviewed 112 million files containing images of child sexual abuse….

Pennsylvania High Court Won’t Hear Sandusky Appeal

(HARRISBURG, Pa.) — Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky’s child molestation conviction will not be reviewed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, under an order issued Wednesday.
Sandusky asked the court to take up his 45-count conviction, arguing his lawyers were rushed too quickly to trial in 2012 and that prosecutors improperly made reference to his decision not to testify.
He also said the trial judge should have issued a jury instruction about how long it took his victims to report the abuse and that jurors should not have been told to weigh evidence of his good character against all other evidence.
The state attorney general’s office had countered that Sandusky did not provide sufficient basis for the Supreme Court to take up the matter, and that decisions made by the trial judge did not violate his rights.
Sandusky, 70, is serving a 30- to 60-year prison sentence for sexual abuse of 10 boys. His lawyer said he is disappointed the court denied his appeal.
Eight of his victims testified at trial, describing a range of abuse from grooming and fondling to oral and anal sex, including attacks in the basement of Sandusky’s home outside State College. Another witness, a graduate assistant for the team who had been a quarterback for the Nittany Lions, testified he saw Sandusky having sexual contact with a boy inside a team shower late on a Friday night….

JOHANNESBURG – The case against two boys accused of killing two teenage girls in an apparent satanic ritual in Soweto has been postponed in the Protea Magistrates Court.
The delay has been granted to allow the state time to make copies of the dockets and hand them over to the defence.
The boys, aged 15 and 16, are accused of killing 15-year-old Thandeka Moganetsi and 16-year-old Cwayita Rathazwayo whose bodies were discovered in a veld in the Dobsonville area last month.
Burnt black candles and razor blades were found at the murder scene.
The police’s Kay Makhubela said, “The case was postponed to 7 April after the legal representatives requested copies and the investigation continues.”

Apduhan is facing a murder case for the death of 14-year-old Angelo Repuela whose decomposing body was found in a tunnel underneath his house in Balamban town.
Another complaint for human trafficking was filed against Apduhan for detaining a 33-year-old woman whom the cult leader allegedly used as his sex slave for five years….

Penn State to pay $59.7M to 26 Sandusky victims
John Bacon, USA TODAY October 28, 2013
Penn State will pay $59.7 million to 26 sexual abuse victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, the school said Monday.
The terms of the settlements include confidentiality agreements, the school said in a press release. Of the 26 settlements, 23 are signed and three are agreements in principle, with final documentation expected within the next few weeks.
“The Board of Trustees has had as one of its primary objectives to reach settlements in a way that is fair and respects the privacy of the individuals involved,” Keith Masser, chair of the Board of Trustees, said in a statement. “This is another important milestone in accomplishing that goal.”
University President Rodney Erickson called the agreements “another step forward in the healing process for those hurt by Mr. Sandusky, and another step forward for Penn State.”….

Penn State University trustees gave the go-ahead Friday for the school to start making settlement offers to some of the child sexual abuse victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
No settlement agreements have been signed, the university said in a statement, adding that negotiations with men who have made claims against the school are confidential.
Freeh found that Graham Spanier, then the university’s president, two other senior executives and legendary football coach Joe Paterno “failed to protect against a child sexual predator harming children for over a decade.” Paterno died last year.
Spanier — who is awaiting trial on charges of perjury in connection with his grand jury testimony in the Sandusky case, as well as charges of obstruction, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children and failure to properly report suspected abuse — filed a notice Thursday that he is suing Freeh for libel and defamation…..

Transference-focused psychotherapy with former child soldiers: meeting the murderous self.

Journal of Trauma & Dissociation (impact factor: 1.23). 03/2013; 14(2):170-83. DOI:10.1080/15299732.2013.724339
ABSTRACT This article describes the application of transference-focused psychotherapy (TFP) to the treatment of former child soldiers suffering from dissociative identity disorder. It focuses on the problems with aggression faced in psychotherapy. TFP provides a psychodynamic, object relations model to understand the aggression arising in psychotherapy, focusing on the transference and countertransference in the here and now of the therapeutic relationship. Aggression is considered an essential and vital inner dynamic aimed at autonomy, distancing, and the prevention of injury and dependency. In extremely traumatized patients there may be aggressive and oppressive inner parts that want total control-identifying with childhood aggressors-thus avoiding vulnerability. According to TFP it is vital that this aggression is addressed as belonging to the patients themselves in order to reach some form of integration, balance, and health. This is illustrated in a case description.
Structural dissociation and its resolution among Holocaust survivors: a qualitative research study.
Carl F Auerbach, Shoshana Mirvis, Susan Stern, and Jonathan Schwartz
Journal of Trauma & Dissociation 10(4):385 (2009) PMID 19821175
This qualitative study investigated how Holocaust survivors managed to lead “normal” lives after experiencing incomprehensible horror. It was based on structural dissociation theory (O. Van der Hart, E. R. S. Nijenhuis, & K. Steele, 2006), which postulates that when people encounter traumatic events that they cannot integrate into their ongoing mental lives, their personalities may divide into 2 distinct action systems: the apparently normal part of the personality (ANP; involving systems that manage functions of daily life) and the emotional part of the personality (EP; involving systems related to the traumatic memory). Failure to integrate also leads to nonrealization of the traumatic experience. Research participants were 20 people randomly selected from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s oral history archives. Their interviews were analyzed in terms of structural dissociation and nonrealization in order to develop a narrative about the stages of their post-war lives. In the 1st stage (Surviving the Camps: Formation of Traumatic Memories), the experience of surviving the camps created traumatic emotional memories. In the 2nd stage (Post-War Adjustment: Creating the ANP by Splitting Off the Traumatic Memories Into an EP), survivors’ desire to create a normal post-war life led them to split off their traumatic memories. In the 3rd stage (Developing the Motivation to Remember), survivors’ changed life context motivated them to confront the previously split-off material. In the 4th stage (Creating a Historical Self: Integration of the ANP and EP), survivors integrated past experience into their lives, although the impact of the trauma never fully disappeared.

Holy Hell – one family’s story of sexual abuse by their priest
By Carol Duncan (ABC Local Radio) 26 March, 2013
When senior NSW Police Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox told ABC TV’s Lateline programme that the Catholic Church had covered up crimes by paedophile priests, silenced investigations and destroyed evidence to avoid prosecution – the public outrage triggered a Royal Commission into institutional child abuse. One of the stories that led to this is that of Patricia Feenan’s son, Daniel, a 14-year-old altar boy when first raped by a priest in the Newcastle/Maitland diocese….
Patricia Feenan says that one of the problems with the media coverage was that there no reporting of the ‘culture of grooming’ and that discussing it, educating people about it means they’re more aware but also hopefully more likely to tell someone and to seek help.
“The reaction I’ve had from many people, and many victims who are positive and thankful, means I know I’ve helped people. One man wrote that he’d never disclosed his abuse but he read the book and gave it to his mother, telling her ‘This is what happened to me.’
Sadly, Patricia fears that sexual abuse by the clergy continues, and will continue.
“We hear that it’s historical, and I’ll concede that the church is trying very hard now with protocols put in place to deal with victims who come forward now, but when they say it’s historical, that’s true the offence was historical, but the impact is with us every day, and it’s certainly with my son every day of his life. If people understand that more, maybe they can walk some of the journey. Emotional support is what victims want, not ostracisization.”… http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2013/03/26/3723929.htm
Artist Graham Ovenden accused of being paedophile
Graham Ovenden Graham Ovenden denies the charges 11 March 2013
An internationally-acclaimed artist has been described in court as a paedophile who blindfolded girls and committed indecent acts.
Graham Ovenden, 70 – who has had work hung at the Tate Gallery – is accused of sexually abusing children in London and Cornwall. Truro Crown Court heard Mr Ovenden’s “target of abuse was young girls.”
He denies nine charges of indecency with a child and indecent assault on victims aged between six and 14. When he was arrested over the alleged abuse of one of the girls, Mr Ovenden admitted he had taken photographs of her – a few of them being “nudies”, the court was told. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-21745915
Sandusky speaks from prison: Witness’s ‘story changed a lot’
By Mark Morgenstein, CNN Mon March 25, 2013
Jerry Sandusky has been interviewed for the first time since going to prison in October. Documentary filmmaker John Ziegler shares the convicted pedophile’s comments on Joe Paterno, and on the prosecution’s key witness, with Piers Morgan, at 9 p.m. ET Monday on CNN.
(CNN) — Jerry Sandusky will probably be incarcerated for the rest of his life for child sex abuse convictions, but the former Penn State assistant football coach is making sure he has his say outside the prison walls.
Documentary filmmaker John Ziegler interviewed Sandusky, 68, for a project he calls “The Framing of Joe Paterno.” On Monday, NBC’s “Today” show aired a portion of a phone conversation between the two men.
In the broadcast excerpts, Sandusky questioned the credibility of prosecution witness Mike McQueary, another former Penn State assistant coach, who testified that he walked in on Sandusky raping a child in the showers at a school facility.
“I think there’s a lot of things that transpired. I think these investigators, the way they went about business, you know, his story changed a lot. I think he said some things, and then it escalated on him,” Sandusky said. “I don’t understand how anybody would have walked into that locker room from where he was and heard sounds associated that was sex going on. (laughter) You know, like he said that could’ve been, I mean, there was … that would have been the last thing I would have thought about. I would’ve thought maybe fooling around or something like that. (laughter)”
Sandusky also discussed what Joe Paterno, the legendary Penn State head coach who was forced out as a result of the scandal, knew — or didn’t know.
“If he absolutely thought I was (a pedophile), I’d say no. If he had a suspicion, I don’t know the answer to that,” Sandusky said….

Pa. AG Kane picks former federal prosecutor to lead inquiry into Sandusky probe
By Associated Press
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Keeping a campaign promise, Pennsylvania’s new attorney general appointed a special deputy Monday to investigate Gov. Tom Corbett’s handling of the Penn State child sexual abuse case and why it took so long to bring charges against former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
The appointee, H. Geoffrey Moulton Jr., is “a highly respected former federal prosecutor who will assist us in providing a comprehensive and independent examination of the facts,” Attorney General Kathleen Kane said in a news release announcing the move.
Kane, who was sworn in last month as the first woman and first Democrat to be elected attorney general, said she would make the findings public “once the facts have been uncovered,” but she did not set a timeline for completing the probe nor comment further.
She had pledged during her campaign last year to investigate why it took the attorney general’s office nearly three years to charge Sandusky.
